FAQs
What is an (IDCMP)?⌄
The Impaired Driver Care Management Program (IDCMP) is an NH state-approved program that assists clients in meeting court and DMV requirements to have licenses reinstated. The IDCMP is NH’s system for evaluating and managing DUI education and treatment requirements.
What Does the IDCMP Do?⌄
The IDCMP screens and assesses a person after a DUI conviction to determine whether they need education, treatment, or both. The IDCMP monitors clients while they complete those requirements, then reports compliance to the court or DMV as required.
What are the He-A 500 Rules?⌄
These rules implement the requirements of RSA 265-A for treatment and educational services for people convicted of driving while impaired offenses.
What are the total costs of the IDCMP?⌄
Intake/Screening: $100 plus the state fee. Evaluation: $275 if required. 20-Hour Impaired Driver Education Program: $400. Out of State Program Review: $350. Monthly Case Management Fee: $80.
Documents You MUST Provide to an IDCMP⌄
Certified DMV driving record(s), a court order or case summary, chemical test documentation or refusal form, arrest report and narrative, criminal record, and proof of a Victim Impact Panel. Visit our required document library for more detail. Learn More
Will my Health Insurance Cover Any Costs?⌄
If you complete an evaluation and a service plan is created that requires outpatient counseling, intensive outpatient, or residential services, your health insurance may help cover the cost of those required sessions.
What is the Reduced Fee for Hardship and Who Qualifies?⌄
A reduced fee may be available to New Hampshire residents receiving TANF, SSDI, SSI, state supplemental program assistance, or veteran disability benefits. Proof must be submitted before or at intake.
What Happens During the Intake Appointment?⌄
The IDCMP reviews your paperwork and asks questions to understand your situation. Intake typically includes document review, a discussion of your driving history and current offense, questions about alcohol or drug use, screening tools, and an explanation of next steps.
What Happens During the Evaluation Appointment?⌄
Evaluations are conducted by NH Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors or NH Master Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors. The evaluation includes a biopsychosocial assessment, ASAM Level of Care, and DSM diagnosis, resulting in a service plan and/or recommendations.
What Is a Service Plan?⌄
A service plan is a written outline created after intake and screening that explains what you are required to complete as part of the IDCMP. It is your roadmap for meeting court and/or DMV requirements.
What if the Client Does Not Agree With the Service Plan?⌄
A client may request a hearing with the Department of Safety pursuant to RSA 265-A:40, VI and Saf-C 204.20 to challenge recommendations or requirements.
What is Compliance with the IDCMP?⌄
Compliance means completing every required step in your service plan, submitting documentation, paying fees, meeting deadlines, and following attendance requirements. Once compliant, the IDCMP reports your completion status to the appropriate court or NH DMV.
What constitutes non-compliance with the service plan?⌄
Missing requirements, deadlines, appointments, payments, or documentation can result in non-compliance. Contact the team promptly if circumstances make a requirement difficult to complete.
How Do I Get Back into Compliance?⌄
Contact Chrysalis so the team can review your service plan, explain what remains, and help you understand the next step.
What if I decide not to do this program once enrolled or do not complete required components?⌄
Your IDCMP requirements and reporting obligations continue until they are completed or otherwise resolved with the appropriate agency. Contact the team for guidance.
What is Case Management?⌄
Case management supports clients as they complete a service plan, keep track of requirements, and communicate about progress.
Who has to do Case Management?⌄
Clients whose screening and evaluation result in a service plan may be required to participate in case management until the program is completed.

If I don’t want to do this program, can I wait the full loss time and then go to the DMV and get my license?⌄
Program and license reinstatement requirements depend on your case and New Hampshire rules. Contact the DMV or Chrysalis for guidance specific to your situation.
What is an Out-of-State Program Review?⌄
An out-of-state program review converts a completed program into a New Hampshire completion when required for someone who lives in or is licensed by NH.
